Description
No. 65 Birmingham Road is a building dating from around 1557, originally constructed for John Milward. The property was purchased in 1608 by a new owner who added a carved date of 1608 and the initials WNC on a tablet above the porch arch. The building is made of sandstone and features a gabled roof covered with old tiles. It has two storeys and attics, with three gables and a central projection. Architectural details include a stone cornice moulding and stone gable copings with kneelers. The window arrangement consists of two sets of one and two casement windows on the ground floor, with stone mullions and transoms; the outer windows are three lights each, while the inner ones have five lights. The first floor features stone mullions with three lights each, and a central window with nine lights on three sides of the bay. There are also two-light attic windows in the end gables. The central porch is adorned with pilasters, a flattened ogee arch, and a stepped hood moulding. Red brick chimneystacks complete the exterior.
