Description
Nos 163 and 164 Spon Street are a former merchant's house, originally known as Nos 8-10 Much Pank Street, Coventry. They were relocated to their current site in October 1974. The building dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century and features a timber frame that oversails at the first and second floor levels, topped with a tiled roof. The ground floor was primarily used for shops, while the second floor was partly for storage. The hall at the back was destroyed in the 19th century. The roof structure includes a collar beam truss with clasped purlins and tie beams. The windows are a mix of casement and closed styles, with wood mullions and reconstructed wood tracery.
