Description

Nos. 89 and 91 Camden Street are a pair of former town houses, dating from circa 1830-40. They are stucco-faced, with one and two bays respectively. The buildings have a plinth and a moulded eaves cornice, topped by a gable end slate roof. The ground and first floor windows are set within architrave surrounds on block sills. A central, round arched passage entrance has a blind radial fanlight, and is flanked by house doors. These doors are raised above the plinth and are approached by flights of steps with cast iron rails featuring turned ornament. The doors themselves are of four moulded panels, each with a rectangular fanlight, set within pilaster cases with necks and caps and topped by an entablature with dentil cornices. The buildings represent an isolated example of former domestic buildings that have been altered for use as workshops and offices. This listing was subject to a minor amendment on 16 March 2017.
