Description
King Edward's School Chapel, located on Edgbaston Park Road, is a notable building that underwent rebuilding and renovation from 1938 to 1940, designed by Holland W. Hobbiss. This chapel links the Grammar School and Library ranges of Barry's School, which were built between 1833 and 1838. The structure is made of brick with stone dressings, featuring buttresses and unusually broad battlements. The interior consists of four bays, with one bay in width, and is designed in a convincing Perpendicular style. The walls are adorned with panelled tracery, which is more intricate in the eastern bays compared to the western ones. The chapel boasts four-light Perpendicular windows, most of which on the north side retain their original stained glass. The ceiling is designed with a lierne vault.
