Description
No 100 on Sampson Road, located in Sparkhill, was built in 1901 and served as the former vicarage of St Agatha's in an Arts and Crafts style designed by W H Bidlake. The building features distinctive red brick with a unique bonding pattern, incorporating some black headers arranged in a diaper pattern, along with stone dressings and a tiled roof.
The structure is three bays wide, with the left two bays rising to two storeys, while the right bay is slightly advanced and includes two storeys plus an attic with a gabled roof. The ground floor showcases a tripartite window, a central entrance that is elaborately decorated, and a bay window. On the first floor, there is another tripartite window, a canted bay window resembling an oriel, and a third tripartite window. The attic features a 2-light window. All windows are made of stone, equipped with mullions and, in some cases, transoms. A prominent chimney stack is situated between the first and second bays. Although the building has been converted into flats, the original staircase remains intact.
