Description

The Queen and Castle Hotel is a late 18th-century building located on Castle Green. It is constructed of red brick and features two storeys with five windows. The lower windows have keyblocks and channelled lintels, and there is a modillion doorcase. The building has brick eaves and an extensive return side that is painted to resemble timber-frame construction. It is locally reputed that Sir Walter Scott wrote part of "Kenilworth" here. The hotel is part of a group of listed buildings on Castle Green.
