Description

Numbers 37 and 38 Newbold Terrace East are a pair of houses dating to around 1830, with later alterations. They are constructed of pinkish-brown brick, with a scored facade, and feature a Welsh slate roof to the left and cement tiles to the right. The houses are three storeys high with basements, and have four windows to the first floor. They have a chamfered plinth and a band above the first floor. The first floor windows are tall 6/9 sashes in plain reveals with a continuous impost band. The second floor has 3/6 sashes with a continuous sill band. The ground floor has paired entrances in the centre, leading to 6-panel doors, with the left-hand door being partially glazed and featuring glazing bars in the overlight. There is a plain architrave and continuous moulded cornices above the doors. The ground floor also has tripartite windows with 6/6 sashes between 2/2 sashes. Concealed openings are present in the basement. The houses have end stacks. The interior was not inspected. The railings to the left have bars with alternating fleur-de-lys and diamond finials. Newbold Terrace was begun in 1828 but was not completed for many years.
