Description

This is a late 15th-century house, originally a single dwelling, now divided into two properties at 71 and 73 West Street. The building has gabled cross wings, with exposed and jettied close-set studwork on the first floor. The right-hand wing, which is part of number 73, was later underpinned with roughcast brickwork on the lower floor. The central section, forming the left-hand part of number 73, was re-faced with roughcast. The far-right section of number 73 was once part of a separate house dating to around 1600, and is related to the buildings at numbers 75 and 77. The buildings from numbers 71 to 91 on the south-east side of West Street form a group of listed buildings.
