Description
Church Farmhouse is a house with a front range dating from the 17th century and a further addition from the early 18th century. The rear of the house is timber framed with brick nogging. The front range is constructed of red brick with a hipped plain tile roof, featuring two chimney stacks. It is two storeys and has an attic, extending five bays in width. Strip pilasters frame the central bay and the ends of the facade, connected by a brick band at first floor level. A brick eaves cornice with a projecting brick course acts as a "frieze" above the first-floor windows. A pediment gable, with moulded brick verges, sits over the central bay. A central, single-storey gabled porch with a four-centred arched entrance was added in the 19th century. Original windows on both floors have rubbed brick flat arches with thin keystones; these are blocked in the second and fourth bays. The ground-floor windows in the first and fifth bays have been renewed and enlarged, featuring segmental brick arches. The first floor retains cross mullion/transom casements, while the later ground-floor windows are 3-light casements. A triangular window with a segmental base is located within the pediment. Gables are visible at the rear of the property. Inside, the timber-framed section features stopped chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops.
