Description
Cheney's Farmhouse is a timber-framed house dating from the 16th or 17th century, which has been largely faced in red brick and altered in the 18th century. The lower parts of the walls are made of stone. The eastern range appears to be the original part of the house. The northern end is two storeys with an attic and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with a gabled end. The southern end has been raised and has a hipped roof, also two storeys, with two large cross mullion and transom windows on each floor and a brick string course at the first-floor level. There is a central brick chimney stack. A wing to the northwest is faced in red brick and has a gable end, while in the angle there is a hipped roof section with rendered walls. The interior has been much altered but retains chamfered ceiling beams and joists, with the southeast room featuring a very high ceiling.
