Description

This is an 18th century building comprising Nos. 6 and 8 Jury Street. It is a three-storey, five-window red brick structure with stone dressings. The windows are sash windows set within wide, moulded, cased frames, each with a stone keyblock. The facade features rusticated quoins, a moulded cornice at the eaves, and moulded string bands at the first and second floor levels, which project over the keyblocks. A modern shopfront has been inserted for the tailor's shop on the left-hand side. No. 6, on the right-hand side, retains original brickwork to the ground floor and has a projecting stone plinth. The entrance door is set in plain reveals with a keyblock; the fanlight has no glazing bars. The roof is covered with Welsh slates. Inside No. 8 is an original 18th century staircase. The listed buildings on the south side of Jury Street are considered to form a group.
