Description

This is a house, now divided into two cottages at 24 and 26 Warwick Road, Southam. The building has origins in the 15th century, with additions from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed lias stone with whitewashed brick and timber-framed sections to the first floor. The central range is cruk-framed. The roof is tiled, with a 20th-century brick ridge and internal stacks. The building follows a U-shaped plan and has one storey plus an attic. The front has a five-window range of 19th-century three-light casement windows, alongside some 20th-century casements, all with wooden lintels. A 19th-century gabled dormer is present on the front elevation. There are 20th-century doors to both cottages, one on the left side of No. 24 and another to the rear of No. 24. The interior of the central range within No. 26 contains two pairs of cruck timbers with saddles resting on stone plinths. It also features a 16th-century spine beam with run-out stops, a large open fireplace, and a roof with braces. Some framed partitioning is also present.
