Description

The Red House is a house dating to the 17th century, with significant additions from the 19th century. The 19th-century section is constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a stone plinth, quoins, a string course, and coped gables. It has a dentilled brick eaves cornice and a tile roof with ashlar chimney stacks. This range has two floors and a two-window facade. The central feature is a six-panelled door set within a semi-circular brick arch. To either side is a three-light casement window, also with a semi-circular brick arch. The original 17th-century stone range to the left has a coped gable and a roof covered in stone slates. It contains a 19th-century plank door under an old wooden lintel, along with a two-light casement window in the gable end, also under an old wooden lintel. The 19th-century addition is considered to lack special architectural interest.
