Description

Mansill's House is a late 17th or early 18th century farmhouse located in Armscote. Constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, it features a coped gable to the right and a stone slate roof with an ashlar ridge stack, incorporating two flues connected by a cornice. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and has a four-window front. It follows a two-unit through-passage plan. The central portion of the front features a door with a hood mould and label stops, and a single ovolo-moulded light immediately to its right. To the left and right of the door are four-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with a king mullion. The first floor has a three-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window to the left and right, with a two-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window centrally placed on both the left and right sides. All the mullioned windows have hood moulds with label stops. The right gable end contains a four-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window with a king mullion on both the ground and first floors, and a two-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window in the attic. The rear, now the front, has a plank door with a wood lintel, a 19th century casement window above the door to the right, and a further 19th century casement to the centre of the first floor. The interior is said to contain beams and an open fireplace.
