Description
This building, located at 135 High Street in Henley-in-Arden, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and a new front added in the mid to late 18th century and early 19th century. The structure is built of brick in Flemish bond, with some stucco, and features a gabled roof covered in Welsh slate, although some tiles have been replaced.
The exterior consists of three storeys and has a symmetrical arrangement of four windows, along with a single-storey, single-unit wing on the right side. There is a wide plat band above the first floor, and the second floor may have been added later, featuring a plain brick cornice.
The shop front is double-fronted, complete with a frieze, coving, and canopies over paired small-paned glazed doors and an overlight, flanked by small-paned bow windows. There is also a large 20th-century window in the wing. The first floor has tall windows with rubbed brick flat arches above 4/4 horned sashes set in wide flush frames, while the second floor features square windows with brick flat arches above 2/2 horned sashes in wide frames. At the rear, there are 17th-century gabled wings with exposed trusses. The interior has not been inspected.
