Description
This is a row of houses, now used as shops and dwellings, located on The Green in Dunchurch. They date from the mid to late 18th century, with a small 19th-century wing added to the rear of No. 57 and some late 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed of Flemish bond brick and feature a string course. The roof is tiled and has brick stacks at the left end and ridge. The layout is U-shaped, with a cross wing on the right and an additional wing at the rear. The row consists of two storeys and an attic, originally having eight windows but now seven.
No. 57, on the left, has a mid to late 20th-century half-glazed door with a panel above, flanked by 19th-century wood pilaster strips and a shallow hood. There are two sash windows to the left. Nos. 58 and 58A have late 20th-century shop fronts. No. 59 has had its ground floor partly rebuilt, featuring a late 20th-century doorway and a bow window. The first floor has late 20th-century top-hung windows with glazing bars, and the third bay is blocked. Throughout the row, there are gauged brick flat arches. No. 57 includes a small roof dormer with a late 20th-century window, while No. 59 has a gable with a string course and a late 20th-century two-light casement window with glazing bars. The interiors have not been inspected. This row is included for its group value.
