Description

No. 9 and the adjoining cottage are semi-detached cottages that were originally part of a longer row, dating from the 17th to early 18th century. The cottage on the left has 19th, 20th, and late 20th-century additions and alterations. They are timber framed with large framing and whitewashed brick infill, along with additional whitewashed brick sections. The cottages have thatched roofs, with a brick stack at the right end.

No. 9 features a one-unit plan and both cottages are one storey with an attic. They have a one-window range and a plank door. The small windows to the right include a two-light and a one-light window with horizontal glazing bars, along with a small window below the eaves. The first floor of both cottages has cross-glazed two-light casements. The right return side is made of brick and shows fragments of timber framing from a demolished adjacent cottage.

The cottage on the left is a one-unit plan that has been extended to a two-unit plan and then to an L-plan, with a wing on the right at the rear. It has a two-window range, with the timber-framed right part featuring a two-light casement with glazing bars and a swept dormer. The slightly lower left part has two 20th-century three-light casements and a small window above. There is a late 20th-century porch on the left return side, which is flush with the front and has a hipped roof, along with glazed double-leaf doors. The interiors have not been inspected.
