Description
The dovecote, located 50 meters northwest of Packington Old Hall, dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of red brick. It features a plain-tiled roof with an open-sided glover and a pyramidal ridge, along with a gable on the west side. The building has an oblong plan. The west wall includes a round-headed recessed opening, which has been blocked with later English bond brickwork. There is a similar archway leading to a doorway in the west wall, which has a boarded door that has been repaired. Each gable is equipped with flight holes, each accompanied by a landing platform. Inside, the dovecote contains over 1,000 nesting boxes.
