Description
Gates, gatepiers, railings, and a wall adjoining Packington Hall on the southeast date from around 1766. They are made of buff sandstone ashlar. The rusticated gatepiers feature a fret pattern, a swagged frieze, and a depressed pyramidal top. The wrought-iron gates have spiked standards, which are also reflected in the railings on the dwarf ashlar wall. This structure is possibly attributed to Matthew Brettingham.
