Description
The remains of Merevale Abbey include a fragment of the south aisle wall of the abbey church, which dates from the 12th or 15th century. This wall is made of sandstone and measures approximately 4 metres high and 6 metres long. It is currently attached to the north side of an outbuilding. The site is included for its group value. Merevale Abbey was a Cistercian house founded in 1148 by Robert, Earl Ferrers, and is designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
