Description
Two houses, dating from around 1820, are located in Colehill, Tamworth. The buildings are constructed of brick with ashlar detailing and have a slate roof featuring a brick stack at the centre. They were originally built with a double-depth plan. The architecture is in the Georgian style, with three storeys and a six-window facade. Features include a sill band on the first floor and a cornice at the top. A central brick pilaster is also present. The ground floor of No. 8 has a late 19th-century shop front with a polished granite plinth, windows with slender colonnettes, small-paned upper glazing, two recessed entrances, a large fascia, and a canopy. No. 9 has a shop front inserted in the late 20th century, with a triangular-headed entrance, a panelled doorcase, a pedimental gable, a fanlight, and a glazed door. The first and second-floor windows have rusticated wedge lintels with keystones above four-pane horned sashes, with the second-floor windows being smaller and having sills. No. 8 is included on the listing primarily for its group value.
