Description
The churchyard wall and gates located to the southeast of the Church of St. John were likely constructed between 1859 and 1861 as part of a project by G. E. Street. The wall is made of coursed rough-faced Hollington sandstone and features pitched coping. It stands approximately 1200mm high, except on the eastern side where it retains the churchyard at a greater depth. Access to the churchyard is provided by double timber panelled gates set in a splay, complete with an overthrow. This wall contributes significantly to the narrow lane atmosphere of the hamlet center and runs into the crossroads directly opposite Cross House, Cross Cottage, and Yard Farmhouse.
