Description

The Atkinson Memorial is a pedestal tomb located approximately 20 meters southeast of the Church of St. Giles in Cheadle. It commemorates Joseph Atkinson of Melfield, Dublin, who died in 1818. The memorial is made of stone and features a moulded base with incised sides that bear fine inscriptions, including a 20-line quote from Thomas Moore. It is topped with a reeded surbase and a gadrooned urn finial.
