Description
Gates, gatepiers, and garden walls located to the north of Rudyard Hall date from the mid-19th century, with some 17th-century materials reused. The walls, made of ashlar, run north and northwest of the Hall, enclosing a small lawn and standing approximately 1.8 meters high. They feature a re-used 17th-century lintel at the entrance just northwest of the Hall, with pitched coping. The height of the wall was doubled around 1960. The mid-19th-century gatepiers, which are about 2.5 meters high and have a cruciform plan, rise to consoles and are squared off at the frieze, with a moulded surbase and ball finials. The wooden gates have curved upper rails.
