Description
This is a fountain located approximately 10 yards south of the Chapel of Alton Towers, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of ashlar and has a circular plan. The outer part features a sunken basin that contains an octagonal pedestal, which supports a circular inner basin resting on carved animal feet with an everted rim. At the center, there is a fountain with a moulded base and pedestal, topped by an oversailing basin. This fountain is part of the significant garden layout at Alton Towers, which is recognized as Grade I on the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Garden Register.
