Description

Rickerscote Hall is a house dating from around 1600, with additions made in the early and late 18th century, as well as in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame and painted brick with plain tile roofs, including a single ridge and two gable brick stacks. It is designed as a hall house, with an early 18th-century cross wing to the south and a late 18th-century cross wing to the north, along with 19th-century additions to the rear. The house has two storeys plus garrets.

The east front has a slightly recessed central timber-framed hall, which was probably originally jettied but is now underbuilt in brick. To the left, there is a 20th-century gabled porch, and to the right, a large 19th-century canted bay window. Above, the framing features a herringbone and braced lozenge pattern, with a large 20th-century casement window. The right projecting gable wing includes an off-centre 20th-century gabled porch with a glazed door and side light. Above this porch are two windows: an 18th-century glazing bar sash and a 20th-century casement, followed by another 20th-century casement. All these openings have painted wedge lintels.

The left projecting gable wing has one window on each floor, both with segment brick heads. The ground floor features a 20th-century casement, while the upper floor has an 18th-century glazing sash, topped by another 20th-century casement. Inside, the hall is reported to contain an original inglenook fireplace, chamfered beams, an early 18th-century staircase, and much of the original roof structure.
