Description
Shawms is a house, now converted into flats, built in 1905 by Henry T Sandy for HJ Bostock. It features a roughcast exterior with stone dressings and has hipped and gabled plain tile roofs, complete with roughcast tapering ridge and end stacks. The building is designed in the Arts and Crafts style, reminiscent of the work of Voysey. It has two storeys and an attic, with an eight-window range consisting of stone mullion windows that have leaded lights. To the far left, there is a two-storey canted bay, and another gable is located at the far right. The central doorway has double doors and a curved stone canopy supported by brackets, with a three-light dormer positioned just below the broad eaves. The garden front mirrors this design, featuring two long low dormers.
