Description
St Thomas Bridge is a bridge over the River Sow, built around 1800. It is constructed of ashlar and features an elliptical single span arch. The arch is made up of voussoirs that extend to the abutments, which are complemented by parapet abutments that are swept forward with channelled rustication. The bridge has octagonal end piers, a top roll-moulded band, and a plain coped parapet. There is also a cast-iron boundary plate dated 1934, which displays the Stafford borough arms and includes the lettering: "TOWNSHIP / OF / HOPTON / & / COTON" on the left and "BOROUGH / OF / STAFFORD" on the right.
