Description
Izaak Walton's Cottage is a 17th-century building that has been much, but well, restored. It features a timber frame and brick construction with a hipped tile roof, which was formerly thatched. The cottage is one storey plus an attic and has three restored casement windows with modern leaded lights. Inside, you will find exposed ceiling beams and joists, timber-framing, and a well-restored central chimney with a timber-framed brick shaft. Although Izaak Walton was a native of Stafford and is associated with the cottage, it was never his permanent home. The building is attractively arranged as a museum.
