Description
This stable block, built around 1830, is located approximately 8 metres north of Greenfields in Stafford. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. The building is rectangular and consists of a single storey with a loft, displaying a three-window range where the centre section projects forward under a gable.
The centre of the front has an elliptical-headed carriage entrance, with a similar entrance to the left and a later entrance to the right. The loft includes a central lunette window, a pitching eye with small-paned glazing to the left, and a similar square opening to the right. The left side of the building has two segmental-headed entrances with a pitching eye above. The rear features an elliptical-headed entrance with a pitching eye above, as well as a carriage entrance with a sliding door to the right and an end lateral stack.
This stable block is a good and rare example of a domestic stable, contributing significantly to the character of the street corner.
