Description
37 and 38 Greengate Street are two shops dating from the early to mid 18th century, with a large 20th-century extension. The exterior is finished in stucco, while the interior features timber-framed cross walls flanking the central bay on the first floor. The building has a coped tile roof with brick end stacks and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a five-window range. A top cornice adorns the building. The entrance to No. 37 includes small-paned bow windows on the left end, which are framed by panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, leading to a glazed door. No. 38 features a 20th-century double-fronted shopfront. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, with one blind window located above the entrance to No. 38, and three gabled dormers with casements. Inside No. 37, there are stop-chamfered beams and exposed timber-framing.
