Description

The bridge over Smestow Brook is a Grade II listed structure dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from cast iron and engineering brick, featuring three segmental arches that span the brook. The bridge includes two keeled brick cut waters topped with ashlar caps. Both the bridge and its balustrade exhibit neo-Jacobean detailing. An attached notice on the east side of the bridge states that it is insufficient to carry a heavy motor car with a registered axle weight exceeding 4 tons, as ordered by the Staffordshire County Council in March 1905.
