Description
The John Barlow memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 2 yards south of the west tower of the church in Acton Trussell, Bednall. It commemorates John Barlow, who died in 1837. The tomb is made of ashlar and has a rectangular plan. It features a moulded base and paired fluted columns that frame panelled sides adorned with stylised leaf decoration. The edges of the cambered cap are also moulded and it is topped by the base of a former finial. Surrounding the tomb are wrought iron railings, which have urn finials at each corner and in the center of each side. The finial of the tomb itself is located within the railed enclosure to the south.
