Description

This is a three-storey house, originally dating to the early 18th century and remodelled in the early to mid-19th century. It is now used as a shop. The front is plastered and designed to resemble ashlar, with a valley roof covered in slate at the front and tiles at the rear. The building has three windows, which are not arranged symmetrically. Many of the windows are glazing bar sashes, set within flush frames. The ground floor has two shop fronts with glazing bars; the right-hand one is tripartite with a bowed central section. Both shop fronts share a painted fascia, interrupted by an early 18th-century doorcase featuring fluted pilasters and leading to a six-panelled door. A late 20th-century plaque commemorates the birth of Thomas Andrew Walker, a civil engineer, in 1828, and was erected by Cannock Rural District Council.
