Description

Nos. 3 and 4, Market Place, is an early 19th-century house, now incorporating a shop. The building is faced with stucco lined to resemble ashlar, and has a clay tile roof with a central rendered stack. It is two storeys high with six windows, featuring glazing bar sashes with projecting sills. The second window from the right is blind on the first floor. The main entrance is a six-panelled door with a panelled architrave, a simple flat hood supported by console brackets, and a semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. A Victorian or early 20th-century shop front is located to the left, featuring a recessed central entrance and three-pane shop windows on either side.

Cast iron railings enclose a small forecourt. The building’s group value is enhanced by its contribution to the character of the Market Place.
