Description

Payne's Bridge is a late 18th-century bridge located over the canal at the junction with The Pool. It was designed by James Payne and constructed from ashlar stone. The bridge features a single arch that is flanked by buttresses, each with niches. There is a medallion on each side of the arch; one displays the head of a king, while the other is now blank due to weathering or damage. The bridge has a moulded cornice, and the section above the arch and buttresses is corbelled. Additionally, there is an iron balustrade and gates on the north side.
