Description

The Whitehouse and the farm buildings to the east, west, and south are a farmhouse and farm buildings dating from the early to mid 18th century, with the north facade dating to around 1770. They are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings, which were formerly limewashed, and feature clay tile roofs with raised and coped verges and brick stacks. The buildings display a Palladian facade arranged around a courtyard.

The facade is two storeys high, with a three-bay central block that has a moulded cornice and a pediment, which was formerly topped with ball ornaments. There are slightly lower single-bay outer wings with open pediments, connected by low Tuscan colonnades, although the colonnade to the left is now blocked. The central block and both wings feature a blind round-headed arch, flanked by pilasters, with the main block having banded rustication. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the colonnades.

The farmhouse has four bays, but all windows are blocked and concealed by the central block of the facade. The farm buildings include a brick granary to the west of the farmyard and timber-framed and brick barns to the east. The property is located on the edge of Chillington Park and was designed to serve as an eyecatcher.
