Description
Shenstone's Chapel is a garden structure located in Enville Park, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast brick and features plain tile roofs. This Gothic revival building resembles a church, with a cylindrical west tower and a two-bay nave. The tower includes three pointed windows with cast iron frames. Each side of the nave has a panelled and nail-studded door with a four-centred arch, as well as a mural cupboard with an acutely pointed arch and a boarded door. The eastern entrance is full-height and pointed, featuring a double door that is nail-studded and was formerly half-glazed. Inside, there is a pointed arch leading to the apsidal chamber within the tower. The chapel was erected in memory of William Shenstone, who worked on the landscaping of the grounds during the 1750s and 60s.
