Description

The Gothic Gateway, also known as Shenstones Eyecatcher, is a garden structure built in the mid to late 18th century by Sanderson Miller. It is constructed of ashlar and features a castellated Gothic Revival style. The central part of the structure includes a three-centred carriage arch with a dummy portcullis, a castellated gable, and two cylindrical turrets on either side, each topped with corbelled and castellated caps and featuring blind panels. Low crenellated walls connect the gateway to two obliquely placed flanking pavilions, each of which has a three-centred open arch, corner turrets, and corbelled and crenellated parapets.
