Description
The Pagoda is a summerhouse located in Enville Park, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of wood on a rendered brick plinth that is lined to resemble ashlar. The building features hipped felted roofs with bracketed overhanging eaves and has a cruciform plan, with longer central wings extending to the north and south. The design incorporates a mix of oriental and Gothic details.
The structure is single-storey with a two-storey central tower. The north and south wings each have glazed two-leaf doors, while the wall space between the plinth and eaves is filled with shouldered arch windows, most of which are now lacking glass. The tower also has windows of a similar style. Between the carved eaves brackets, there are quatrefoils that contain stained glass.
Inside, the north and south wings feature wooden side benches with cupboards underneath. The central space beneath the tower is accessed from these two wings through trefoiled ogee arches.
