Description

No. 9, known as The Retreat, is a house dating from around 1800. It is constructed of red brick with dentilled eaves and has a hipped clay tile roof, with brick stacks to the rear. The house is three storeys high and has three windows on each floor. The ground-floor windows are glazing bar sashes, while the first and second floors have casements. All windows are topped with segmental heads and feature raised, fluted plaster keys. The central entrance has a half-glazed door with a semi-circular fanlight, fluted pilasters, and an open pediment. A wrought iron veranda with a hipped slate roof extends across the front. A stone-coped wall, iron railings, and gates enclose the front garden.
