Description
The Mortuary Chapel and vault at Weston Park, dated 1870, is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a pitched lead roof. Designed in the Beaux Arts Grecian temple style, it has a plinth and steps leading up to a tetrastyle Tuscan portico, which includes a plain frieze and pediment. The facade behind the portico is pilastered and has a central door with a shouldered surround, flanked by pilastered side walls. The structure is three bays deep and has a tripartite end window with un-moulded surrounds. Inside, there is a marble floor with lozenge inserts, a painted ceiling featuring a stellar pattern, a moulded cornice, 19th-century pews, and stained glass windows. Outside, at the east end of the chapel, there is a cast iron railed vault.
