Description

Corner Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with a 17th-century addition likely replacing an earlier structure. It was remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill, some of which has been replaced by painted brick, and has plain tile roofs with brick ridge stacks and an integral end stack. The 16th-century wing is located to the southeast, aligned northeast/southwest, while the 17th-century range is to the northwest, aligned northwest/southeast, with a 19th-century out-shut to the southwest.

The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows. The gabled wing on the left has barge boards and a finial, with 4-pane casements and a ground floor bay window to the left. On the southeast elevation, there is a 20th-century casement window on the ground floor left, an early 19th-century casement window at the centre of the first floor, and a central door. The framing on the first floor features tall rectangular panels that are exposed.

Inside, the 16th-century wing has chamfered ceiling beams and very wide chamfered joists. The 17th-century range includes chamfered and stopped beams and joists, along with a 4-centred head of a chimney-piece dated 1680, which is decorated with plaster foliage. Some of the original rear wall still shows exposed timber framing.
