Description
Iona, located at 24 Stafford Street in Brewood, is a pair of houses built in the early 18th century with later alterations. The front is made of red brick that has been painted white, topped with a clay tile roof and red brick chimneys. The building is two storeys high and features a three-window front. It has casement windows, but there are two-storey canted bays on the left and in the centre, which have plate glass sashes on the ground floor. The entrance to the left (No. 26) has a boarded door, while the door to the right (No. 24) is a four-panelled design with raised verges. Inside No. 24, there is a notable dog leg staircase with turned balusters and a slightly wedge-shaped plan, along with an 18th-century fireplace in the rear room that has a coved cornice. The interior of No. 26 has not been inspected.
