Description

No. 4 Shop Lane is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, dating from the 17th century and later remodeled in the 18th century. It features painted brick with a dentilled eaves course that indicates its earlier timber frame construction. The roof is covered with clay tiles and has brick ridge stacks. The building stands two storeys high and includes a floor band and three windows, which have 20th-century casements. The entrance has a four-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. Inside, there is a straight staircase from the 18th century with turned balusters, and exposed timber framing can be seen throughout.
