Description
The Poole memorial is a chest tomb located about 3 meters north of the northeast corner of the north aisle of the Church of St John the Baptist. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb has a rectangular plan with a moulded plinth and capping. It features moulded oval inscription panels and fluted fans in the spandrels. The south face commemorates James Poole, who died in 1826, and Thomas Poole, who died in 1817. The north side honors Richard Poole, who died in 1804, and John Poole, who died in 1806. Additionally, Thomas Poole, who died in 1793, is commemorated on the top ledger.
