Description

Bonehill Mill is an early 19th-century watermill, with additions dating to 1838. It is located in Fazeley, near Lichfield. The mill is constructed of brick, with a gabled Welsh slate roof and brick copings. It has a rectangular plan, with the undershot water wheel located to the left.

The building comprises three storeys and a loft. The front elevation, facing the road, features a four-window range, with a carriage arch on the right side. Ground and first floor loading bays have enlarged doorways. A single-storey range of more recent construction sits to the left of the centre, topped with a flat roof. Segmental-arched openings, some blocked, are present on the upper floors, with some retaining glazing bars. A one-bay range to the left was later raised to two storeys and has a tile roof. The rear of the mill features five equal bays, with large segmental-arched windows, some partially blocked, and small windows below the eaves.

Inside, the mill retains an undershot iron water wheel, a pit wheel, and the opening for a drive shaft and stones.
