Description
The Manor is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was remodelled and extended in the late 19th century. It features a timber frame with a brick extension that is now roughcast, and has a plain tile roof with a roughcast brick external end stack. The original house is aligned north-east to south-west and faces north-west, consisting of two framed bays of unequal length. A rear wing was added in the late 19th century, creating a rough T-shape. The building has two storeys and two windows with casements, and displays an exposed queen strut roof truss and a corner post at the right-hand gable. The current entrance is located at the north-west end of the rear range and features a reused datestone from 1690 above the door.
Inside, the principal room is in the south-west bay and includes a late 19th-century Gothic style stone fireplace at the south-west end, inscribed with "GRIPE GRIFFIN / HOLD FAST". Both ground floor rooms have spine beams with very wide chamfers, and the beam in the north-east room has a carved boss. The central partition and rear wall show exposed square panelled timber framing, and the spine beam in the first floor room of the north-east bay supports an open roof in the first floor room of the south-west bay.
