Description
The garden walls located approximately 30 meters north-east of Wychnor Hall are a walled garden dating from the 18th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. Constructed from red brick, the walls feature flat stone coping and enclose an area of about 100 meters by 60 meters, running around three sides while remaining open to the Trent Valley on the south-west side. The walls are approximately 5 meters tall, with some sections heightened in the 19th or 20th century. On the north-east side, the wall is interrupted by two mid-19th century cottages and greenhouses, which are not included in this listing. The north-west side of the wall has a stepped coping above a gateway that features a round arch and an elaborate wrought iron railed gate, which may have originated from another location. This garden wall is part of a group that includes Wychnor Hall, a game larder, and stables.
