Description

Moor House Farmhouse is a farmhouse that originated in the 17th century but was largely rebuilt in the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick with some earlier timber framing and features a plain tile roof with coped verges on shaped kneelers and brick integral end stacks. The main range from the 18th century is located to the southwest and is aligned northwest to southeast, forming an L-shape with a 17th-century rear wing to the northeast, which is aligned northeast to southwest. There is also a 19th-century rear wing that runs parallel to the 17th-century wing. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with a stepped eaves band. It includes four windows with 20th-century casements set in 18th-century window openings, which have flat gauged brick arches, raised keystones, and aprons. To the right of the centre, there is a panelled door with a wooden pilastered doorcase and entablature. The northwest gable features a ground-floor late 19th-century bay window with a hipped roof, a first-floor band, and a blocked attic light. The northeast gable of the 17th-century wing displays exposed timber framing with parallel diagonal struts and V-struts above the collar. Inside, the farmhouse is noted for having panelled shutters on the ground floor windows.
